Definitions.—(1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires— (a) “Appellate Authority” means the authority to whom the appeal lies under section 8; (b) “applicant” means a slum dweller who has made application to the Authorized Officer for conferment of proprietary rights of land under section 3 of this Act; (c) "Appointed day" means the 21st day of February, 1974; (d) “Authorized Officer” means the Chairman of the Slum Area Redevelopment and Rehabilitation Committee or any other officer authorized by the Government, by order, to exercise such powers, as may be prescribed;
