Registrar.- (1) There shall be a Registrar who shall be ex-officio Member Secretary of the Court, the Executive Council and Academic Council of the University. (2) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in the Statutes or the Ordinances of the University, the Registrar shall be appointed by the State Government from amongst the officers who have put in atleast five years service in the Indian Administrative Services or atleast nine years service in Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services or any other officer as may be prescribed in the Statutes, under the State Government, failing which by selection from amongst those eligible under the existing provisions of the First Ordinance of the University. (3) The Registrar shall exercise such powers and discharge such duties as may be prescribed by the Statutes.
