Creation of District level Special Cells and Sub-Divisions.- (1) For the purpose of ensuring quick and scientific level investigation of such serious offences as may be notified, the State Government shall, in consultation with the Director-General of Police, by notification, create a Special Cell in each Police District, to be headed by an officer of the rank of Additional, Assistant or Deputy Superintendent of Police, for supervision and monitoring of investigation and for the better co-ordination of prosecution of such cases in a Court of law. (2) The State Government may, by notification, divide a Police District into as many Sub-Divisions as deemed necessary each with its headquarters, under the charge of an officer of the rank of Assistant or Deputy Superintendent of Police, who shall be known as the Sub- Divisional Police Officer.
