Penalty for placing carcass of infective livestock or bird in river.- Whoever places, or causes or permits to be placed, in any river, canal or other water, the carcass or part of the carcass or any livestock or bird which at the time of its death was infective or which has been destroyed as being infective or suspected of being infective shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend, in the case of a first conviction, to one hundred rupees or, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to five hundred rupees or with both imprisonment and fine.
