Arrangement for reclamation.- When the possession of the land has been taken the Deputy Commissioner may, with the approval of the committee arrange for its reclamation- (a) by retaining it under his management for such period as he thinks fit; or (b) by settling it for such period and on such terms as may be fixed by the committee with the person who, on the date of taking possession, was in lawful possession of the land, or was entitled to such possession, or, if such person is dead, with his successor-in-interest; or (c) by a combination of the methods aforesaid: Provided that the total period for which the land is retained or settled under this section shall not exceed ten years.
