(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in these Statutes, the Executive Council, with prior approval of the State Government, may invite a person of high academic distinction and professional attainments to accept a post of Professor or Associate Professor or any other equivalent academic post in the University on such terms and conditions as it deems fit and on the person agreeing to do so appoint him to the post: Provided that the Executive Council may also create supernumerary posts for a specified period for appointment of such persons: Provided further that the number of supernumerary posts so created shall not exceed five per cent of the total posts in the University. (2) The Executive Council may appoint a teacher or any other academic staff working in any other University or organization for undertaking a joint project in accordance with the manner laid down in the Ordinances.
