In this Act unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context— (i) ““Board” means the Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board constituted under Section 3. (ia) “Chief Executive" means the Chief Executive of the Board (Inserted vide amendment No 24-Leg/80 Date 28-7-80). (ii) (iif) (iv) ™ (vi) (vii) 5 “Kbadi” means any handloom cloth woven from yarn handspun in India. ' ““Prescribed”” means prescribed by rules made under this Act. ““Village Industries” means such industries which generally form the normal occupation whether whole-time or part-time, of any class of the rural population of the State of Punjab and in particular such industries as may be recommended from time to time by the Commission appointed by the Government of India and such other industries as the State Government may, by notification in the official gazette, specify in this behalf in consultation with the Board, *“Government”” means the Government of the State of Punjab. “Commission” means the Khadi and Village Indu- stries Commission established under section 4 of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act, 1956 (No. 61 of 1956). “Member” includes, ‘‘Chairman™ and “Chief Executive” and “Member of the Board” includes “‘Chairman of. the Board"" and *“Chief Executive of .the Board” (Substituted vide amendment No. 24-Leg/80 Date 28.7.80). CHAPTER II ES_TABLISHMENT AND CONSTITUHON OF THE BOARD (1) For carrying out the purpose of this Act, the Incorporation’ of Board . 3 “’Government’ shall, as soon as possible, after the commencement of this Act, by a notification in the -official gazette, establish a Board to be called “The Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board”. g 6 (2) The Board shall be a body corporate having perp.tual , succession and a common seal and may sue_and be sued in its corporate name and shall be competent to acquire and hold and dispose of property both moveable and immoveable and to contract and do all things necessary for the purpose of this Act.
