Intervals for rest and meals - Subject to the provisions of section 6, no employee except a chowkidar, watchman or guard, shall be allowed to work in an establishment for more than five hours before he had an interval for rest of at least half an hour: Provided that Government may by notification fix such interval for rest in respect of any class of establishment for the whole of the State or any part thereof as may consider necessary. (2) The period of work of an employee in an establishment shall be so fixed that, inclusive of his interval for rest, the spread over shall not be more than the hours in a day.
