(1) Every convict sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment or to undergo simple imprisonment, who opts to do labour voluntarily, shall ordinarily be employed on labour of a kind that is most suitable for the institution and the prisoner and for which he is, for the time being fit. (2) No consideration of profit or convenience shall be permitted to influence the class or form of labour which any convict sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment, is at any time required to perform. It shall be fixed with reference solely to the health of the convict and the rules of the prison regarding employment of prisoners. Products to be varied and standardized.
