In order to promote intellectual development of prisoners so as to impress upon their minds the importance of discipline and to develop better work attitude, the prison administration shall be responsible for providing vocational and on the job training in select trades and occupations in prisons with the approval of the Director General. The selection of trade for vocational training and work programs in the prison shall be made in accordance with the employability of the trade, marketability and probability of the product, potential of that training to enhance the prisoner’s ability to adjust in the society and earn his livelihood after release. In each prison, selected trades utilizing modern power-driven machinery shall be taught.
