(1) The drainage of rain water from land around the prison shall receive careful attention and all low ground be filled up with clean earth. No high crop affording convenient cover to any prisoner for escaping or attempting to escape, be grown within fifty meters of the prison walls. (2) It shall be the duty of the Medical Officer to bring into the notice any shortcoming in hygiene and sanitation within the prison area or its vicinity. The construction of public latrines, sewers or drains or the existence of any other insanitary condition in the neighborhood of the prison likely to affect the health of the prisoners, shall be prohibited. The sewerage water from prison toilets and kitchens shall be treated by constructing aerobic sewerage treatment plants and the recycled water and sewer compost may be used for farming.
