In the event of an earthquake, the following action shall be taken namely: – (a) prisoners shall be asked to walk towards an open place, in a calm and composed manner; (b) prisoners shall be asked to take cover (kneel down and cover head with arms); (c) prisoners shall be asked to remain in the same position for a few minutes due to after- shocks; (d) prisoners shall be kept at least fourteen feet away from windows, mirrors, chimneys, tall book cases, furniture, old and high buildings, poles, trees and electric wires; and (e) evacuation and rescue measures shall be undertaken on instructions from an evacuation team and unnecessary crowding of affected area shall be avoided.
