(1) The money and other items of a deceased prisoner shall if the prisoner had nominated any person, or if a claim is lodged by a person holding a valid succession certificate, probate or letters of administration entitling him to receive it, be handed over to such nominee or person. (2) A certified copy of the record of such items shall be provided alongwith the items handover to the nominee or family member. (3) Any wish expressed by a dying prisoner as to the disposal of his items shall be made known to the nominee or family member to whom the items is handed over. (4) When a prisoner dies, intimation of his death shall be sent to his family at his known address as well as through the Station House Officer of the police station concerned with a copy endorsed to the District Magistrate concerned. If within three months no person, duly authorized to receive the item under the conditions laid down, lodges claim to it, such items shall be handed over to the police as being unclaimed items. 1224 HARYANA GOVT.
