(1) The Deputy Superintendent shall discharge duties under the immediate direction order and control of the Superintendent. (2) It shall be the duty of the Deputy Superintendent to strictly enforce, or cause to be so enforced, all laws, rules, regulations, directions and orders relating to the management of prison and prisoners confined therein, for the time being in force. (3) The Deputy Superintendent shall be liable to render all possible help and cooperation to other Deputy Superintendents in the discharge of their duties. (4) The Deputy Superintendent shall be responsible for the safe custody of all records and other articles in his charge, as required by the Act, rules, or instructions/directions of the Director General/Superintendent. (5) The Deputy Superintendent shall visit the prison during the night (between 10 P.M. to 4.A.M.) at least once a week and shall satisfy himself that the prison is properly secured and guarded HARYANA GOVT. GAZ. (EXTRA.), DEC. 30, 2022 (PAUS. 9, 1944 SAKA) 1347 and that all rules and orders relating to or connected with the nightly disposition of prisoners, guarding personnel and Duty Officer are duly observed and given effect to. During the night round, the Deputy Superintendent shall often conduct surprise checks thereby causing the incoming and outgoing Warder guard to be searched and checked in the main gate in his presence. The Deputy Superintendent shall visit the prison in the night at once on the occurrence of any untoward incident. He shall make a report of the night visit in the night report book. (6) The Deputy Superintendent shall, whenever required so to do, accompany the Superintendent and every inspecting officer and official visitor on their visits to the prison.
