(1) Grain shall not be finally stored until it is thoroughly dry, and if it is damp then it shall be spread out and turned over frequently in the sun for a few days but must not be left uncovered at night. All grain shall be protected from birds, vermin, and insects and secured under lock and key. The storage godowns or silos shall be fumigated with appropriate chemicals periodically to keep insects away. It shall be separated from the walls and floor of the store or pit by at least one foot, examined at intervals to see that it is not being damaged. If it shows signs of damage or decay, it shall be all turned out, exposed to the sun, cleaned, and restored. If any loss is discovered, a full report of the circumstances shall be made to the Director General. (2) Grain pulses and flour shall be kept in the grain expense store in gunny bags, each containing a mention of uniform weight of provisions (the weight being marked on each bag) or in bins with the capacity marks printed on them. The weight of the containers in which condiments and oil, and ghee, and other articles are kept, shall be marked on them to facilitate examination or verification of stock.
