(1) In case of death of a foreign prisoner, the Superintendent shall follow the same procedure as followed in the case of prisoners who are citizens of India. In addition, the Superintendent shall report the death of every foreign prisoner, without delay, to the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer or Foreigner Registration Officer, CPV Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, in addition to other authorities prescribed in rule 331. (2) Inquest proceedings shall be initiated without any delay. Post-mortem shall be conducted as soon as possible and communication must be sent to the Embassy or the High Commission concerned through CPV Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, asking for disposal of the dead body. Embalming of the dead body shall be done. In cases where the Embassy or the High Commission concerned does not want the dead body back and gives no objection certificate for disposal of the dead body, the dead body shall be disposed of, as per the practices of the religion to which the deceased belongs and videography of disposal process be done.
