Birth in prison shall be registered at the local birth registration office. Due care shall be taken that prison is not recorded as the place of birth, even though the birth has taken place there, and only the address of the locality shall be mentioned. As far as the circumstances permit, the Deputy Superintendent (Administration) shall ensure that the child is born in the district hospital and all facilities for performing the naming rites of the child are extended to the mother.
