(1) There shall be such number of separate prisons for female prisoners as the Government may determine from time to time. Till the time such separate prisons are established, the female prisoners shall be lodged in separate enclosures or buildings or separate parts of the same building, in such manner as to prevent their seeing or conversing, or holding any interaction with the male prisoners. (2) All duties in the female enclosure shall be performed by female staff. Further, as far as practicable, all the matters of the female prisoners shall be dealt with by female staff only.
