Section 166

The warrants of all convicts shall be examined at the following times, namely:- (a) at the time of admission, the period to be set off under section 428 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974), shall be confirmed through the convicting Court and shall be deducted as per these rules from the sentence to arrive at a probable date of release; (b) at the time when he completes half of his substantive sentence including remissions, a new probable date of release (PDR) shall be noted in the release register; (c) at the time when he completes three fourth of his substantive sentence including remissions, a new probable date of release shall be noted in the release register; and (d) finally, warrants of all convicts whose release is due in any month shall be examined on the 20th day of the month preceding, to ascertain their correctness and bring it to the notice of the Superintendent.
