Oath: (1) Before entering upon the duties of their offices as Panches, Sarpanches, members, Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, President or Vice Presidents, as the case may be, they shall taken an oath of allegiance or make affirmation in the Form specified in Schedule 1. (2) If any person mentioned in sub-section (1) refuses to take or make oath or affirmation, his election shall be deemed to be invalid and a fresh election shall be held. (3) No person whose election is deemed to be invalid under this Section, shall be eligible for election to any Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti or Zila Parishad, as the case may be, for a period of two years from the date on which he ought to have taken or made oath or affirmation.
