(1) Every Corporation shall, unless relieved of this obligation by the Government, maintain sufficient police establishment for its police requirements within the Municipal area for the performance of the duties imposed on it by this Act: Provided that the Corporation may requisition extra police force from the Director General of Police whenever deemed necessary. (2) The establishment maintained under sub-section (1) shall consist of persons on deputation from the general police force under the Government within the meaning of section 2 of the Police Act, 1861, and shall consist of such number of officers and men who shall respectively receive such pay, leave, allowances, gratuities and pensions as the Corporation may from time to time after consultation with the Director General of Police, and subject to the final decision of the Government, direct.
