( I ) Seats shall bc reserved for the Schedules Castes in every Resewanlion municipality and the number of scats so reserved shall bear, as nearly as sea's- may be, the same propotion to the total number of seats to be filled by direct election in a municipality as the polula~ion of the Scheduled Castes in the municipal area bears to the tola1 population of that area and such sears may be allotted to such wards having maximum popu~atlon of persons belonging to Scheduled Castes. (2) Not less than one-third of the total number of scats reserved under sub-section ( I ) shall be rescrved lor women belonging to the Scheduled Castes and such seats may be alIotred to such rotation and by lots amongst the wards reserved under sub-secrion ( I ) .
