(1) Every member of a police force under this Act shall give Powers and immediate information to the committee of any offence committed against duties of police this Act or the rules or bye-laws, and shall be bound to assist all members, in of and employees of the comrnirtee in the exercise of their lawhI authority. offences against Acc and (2) Every member of such poke force may arrest any person RH~CS, and committing in his view any offence against this Act or the rules or bye- assisraace to laws- municipal auhorilies. (a) if the narne and address of the person are un-known to him, and (bJ if the peson,declines to give his name and address, or if there is reason to doubt the accuracy of the name and address if gi vcn. (3) A person arrested under this section may be detained until his narne and address have been correctly ascertained : Provided that no person so arrested shall be detained longer than may be necessary for bringing him before a Magistrate except under che order of a Magistrate for his detention.
