(1) Save as otherwise provided in this Act, the relevant code of practice of the Bureau of Indian Standards (including National Building Code and National Electrical Code), if any, may be followed to carry out the purposes of this Act and in the event of any inconsistency, the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder shall prevail. (2) The material and apparatus used shall conform to the relevant Registration of existing lifts and escalators. Right to enter any building for inspection. Lifts or escalators in an unsafe condition. Sealing. Insurance. Log book and reporting. Concurrent liability. Intimation specifications of the Bureau of Indian Standards where such specifications have already been laid down. (3) The number of lifts or escalators to be installed in a premises and the spacing between them shall be governed as per the relevant code of practice of Bureau of Indian Standards and the National Building Code.
