The Act came into force on the 1st December, 2012 vide Haryana Government, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department, Notification No. S.O. 9/H.A. 19/2010/S. 1/2013 published in Haryana Government Gazette (Extra ordinary) dated the 17th January, 2013. AN ACT to establish Gau-Seva Aayog for the preservation and welfare of cows in the State, for supervision and control of institutions established for the purpose and to provide for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Haryana in the Sixty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows :—
