(1) Any offence committed under this Act may either before or after the institution of the prosecution, be compounded by such officer and for such amount, as the Government may, by notification, specify in this behalf: Provided that no offence shall be compounded unless the notices or orders issued under this Act are complied with. (2) Where an offence has been compounded under sub-section (1), no further proceedings shall be taken against the offender in respect of such offence. Protection of action taken in good faith.
