Demolition of walls, partitions etc.:-The employer shall ensure at a construction site of a building or other construction work that— (a) any demolition of walls or partitions is proceeded in an systematic manner as per the standard safe operating practices Rule 114 The Building and Other Construction Workers‘ (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Central Rules, 1998 61 and all work above each tier of any floor beams is completed before the safety of the support of such beam is impaired: (b) masonry is neither loosened nor permitted to fall in such masses or volume or weight as to endanger the structural support; (c) no wall, chimney or other structure or part of a structure or part of a structure is left unguarded in such a condition that it may fall, collapse or weaken due to wind pressure or vibration; (d) in the case of demolition of exterior walls by hand, safe footing is provided for the building workers employed for such demolition, in the form of sound flooring or scaffolds; (e) walls or partitions which are to be demolished by hand are not left standing more than one storey high above the uppermost floor on which persons are working.
