(1) The Executive Council shall be the principal executive authority of the University and shall consist of the following members, namely:- (i) the Vice-Chancellor - ex-officio, the Chairman; (ii) the Secretary to Government, Education Department, Government of Gujarat, ex-officio; (iii) the Commissioner of Higher Education, Gujarat State or an officer not below the rank of the Joint Director of Higher Education nominated by the Commissioner, ex- officio; (iv) two eminent persons to be nominated by the Chancellor from amongst persons who have made significant contribution in the field of Sanskrit and its literatures; (v) two distinguished scholars to be nominated by the State Government from amongst persons who have made significant contribution in the field of Sanskrit and its literature; (vi) one Dean of the Faculty nominated by the Vice-Chancellor from amongst the Deans of Faculties by rotation in such manner as may be prescribed; (vii) one of the principal of the colleges nominated by the Vice- Chancellor amongst the principals of the colleges in such manner as may be prescribed. (2) The term of the nominated members of the Executive Council shall be for a period of three years.
