(1) Nothing in this Act shall apply to — (i) establishments to which the Employees' Provident Funds and Family Pension Act, 1952 applies; (ii) establishments of the Central Government, the State Government, a local authority or a scheduled bank. Explanation.-For the purposes of this section "Scheduled bank" means a bank included in the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934; (iii) an establishment exempted under section 4 of the Bombay Shops and Establishments Act, 1948 from all the provisions of that Act. (2) The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, exempt any class of establishments from all or any of the provisions of this Act, subject to such conditions and for such period as may be specified in the notification.
