In section 5, for clause (10), the following shall he substituted, namely :- "(10) "standard rent" in relation to any premises means- (a) where the standard rent is fixed by any Court or authority authorised to do so by any law in force immediately before the 20th December, 1948, such rent: or (b) where the standard rent is not so fixed, subject to the provisions of section 11, (i) the average rent for the month during the calender year, 1941 or during the period in the said year in which the premises were let, plus an amount not exceeding ten per cent, of the rent on the 1st day of January, 1943, or (ii) where they were not let on the 1st day of January, 1941, the rent at which they were last let before that day, plus an amount not exceeding ten per cent, of the rent on the 1st day of January, 1943, or (iii) where they were first let after the 1st day of January, 1941, the rent at which they were first let, or (iv) in any of the cases specified in section 11, the rent fixed by the Court".
