(1) Where there does not exist field channel in any service area in which lands are capable of being irrigated from a canal, the State Goveent may construct the field channel in the public interest at the cost of the State Govermnent, which is likely to be needed for construction of proposed field channel. (2) Th field channel constructed by the State Government under sub- section (1) shall be maintained in accordance with the rules as may be prescribed. 6-7
