(1) The Director General shall be appointed by the Board with the approval of the State Government, in the manner as may be prescribed by regulations. (2) The Director General shall be a scholar of eminence in one of the areas of applied sciences, engineering; infrastructural science, technology or management having suitable administrative experience. (3) The Director General shall be the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University. He shall preside over the meetings of the Academic Council and the Finance Committee. (4) The term of office of the Director General shall be determined by the Board for a period not exceeding five years or till he attends the age of seventy years, whichever is earlier. (5) Whenever any vacancy occurs in the office of the Director General and it can not be conveniently and expeditiously filled up in accordance with the provisions of sub-sections (1) and (2) and if there is any emergency, the Board may appoint any suitable person to be the Director General and may, from time to time, extend the Powers and functions of Finance Committee. (6) The Director General may resign from his office by writing under his hand addressed to the Chairman of the University and his resignation shall take effect from such date it is accepted by the Chairman. (7) The other terms and conditions of the services of the Director General shall be such as may be prescribed by the Board and until so prescribed, shall be determined by the Chairman of the University.
