(1) The senate shall be the supreme governing body of the University and shall have power to review the acts of the Syndicate 31[ and of the Board of Post- Graduate Teaching and Research] and shall exercise all the powers of the University not provided for by this Act, 32[the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations.] (2) Subject to such conditions as may be prescribed by or under the provisions of this Act, the Senate shall exercise the following powers and perform the following duties, namely:- (i) to make provision for instruction, teaching and training in, for research in and for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge of, the Ayurvedic system of medicine; (ii) to make such provision as will enable affiliated colleges and recognised instituations to undertake specialisation of studies; Registered graduates. The Gujarat Ayurved University Act, 1965 [1965: Guj. 40 15 of 38 (iii) to institute professorships, readerships, lecturerships and any other posts of teachers required by the University; (iv) to institute fellowships, travelling fellowships, scholarships, studentships, exhibitions, medals and prizes; (v) to institute and confer degrees, titles, diplomas and other academic distinctions; (vi) to make, amend or repeal the Statutes; (vii) to consider, cancel, refer back but not to amend 33[the Ordinance or the regulations]; (viii) to consider and pass resolutions on the annual reports and annual accounts; (ix) to consider the annual financial estimates prepared by the Syndicate and pass resolutions with reference thereto; (x) to elect office bearers and authorities as provided in the Act and the Statutes; . (xi) to exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by this Act or 34[the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations]
