Appointment of the Vice-Chairperson.— (1) The Vice-Chairperson shall be appointed on the recommendation of a search committee consisting of Chairperson of the Council and two other -5- members, one nominated by the Council and one by the Government; (2) The Vice-Chairperson shall have one non-extendable term of five years or till he attains the age of 70 years; (3) The Vice-Chairperson may be removed by the Government on the recommendation of the Council; (4) The Vice-Chairperson shall preside over the meetings of the Council in the absence of the Chairperson; (5) The salary and allowances payable to the Vice-Chairperson shall be such as may be specified by the Government, from time to time, by Notification in the Official Gazette.
