Section 36

Mode of construction of latrines

Mode of construction of latrines.— (1) All latrines shall— (a) be so constructed as to screen persons using the same and the filth from the view of persons passing by or residing in the neighbourhood; and (b) be maintained, repaired, altered and used in accordance with the rules and bye-laws made under this Act. (2) If any latrine opening on any street, whether such latrine be erected before or after the commencement of this Act, is so placed or constructed as to be nuisance or offensive to public decency, the Health Officer may, by notice in writing require the owner to remove it or to carry out such improvement therein and within such time as may be specified in the notice. (3) When any latrine is used in common by the occupiers of two or more premises or by the members of two or more families, no person shall injure or improperly foul any such latrine or anything used in connection therewith.
