Penalty for contravention of provisions relating ito dangerous diseases.— (1) Whoever knowingly contravenes any provision of section 232, 233, 235, 236, 237 or 238 or clause (d) of section 239, or disobeys any order or requisition made under any of the aforesaid sections, or obstructs any officer of the Council or other person acting under the authority of the Council in carrying out executively any such order shall, on conviction, be punished with, fine which may extend to 460 [two thousand rupees], and in the case of continuing offence with further fine which may extend to 461 [one hundred rupees] for every day after the first during which such contravention continues. (2) Whoever contravenes any provision of clauses (a), (b) or (c) of section 239, or disobeyes any order or requisition made under any of the aforesaid clauses, or obstructs any officer of the Council or other person acting under the authority of the Council in carrying out executively any such order shall, on conviction, be punished with fine which may extend to 462[five thousand rupees], and in the case of continuing offence with further fine which may extend to 463[one hundred rupees] for every day after the first during which such contravention continues. (2) Whoever contravenes any provision of clauses (a), (b) or (c) of Section 239, or disobeys any order or requisition made under any of the aforesaid clauses, or obstructs any officer of the Council or other person acting under the authority of the Council in carrying out any such order, shall be liable to a penalty which may extend to fifty thousand rupees; and, in the case of a continuing offence, be liable to a further penalty which may extend to one thousand rupees for every day after the first during which such contravention continues.]
