Prohibition of public meetings on the election day.— (1) No person shall convene, hold or attend any public meeting within a ward of a municipal area on the date or dates on which poll is taken for an election from the ward. 105 (2) Any person who contravenes any provision of sub-section (1) shall, on conviction, be punished with fine which may extend to two hundred and fifty rupees. [(2) Any person who contravenes any provision of sub-section (1) shall be liable to a penalty which may extend to five thousand rupees.]
