Prohibition of sale of articles in public streets, without licence.— (1) No person shall hawk or sell or expose for sale any article in any public street or public place, except under and in accordance with a licence granted under the bye-laws made by the Council in this behalf. 384[ (2) Any person who contravenes any provision of sub-section (1) or of any licence issued to him shall, on conviction, be punished with fine which may extend to fifty rupees. (2) Any person who contravenes any provision of sub-section (1) or of any licence issued to him shall be liable to a penalty which may extend to one thousand rupees..] (3) The Chief Officer or any other municipal officer authorised by him in this behalf may seize any article hawked or sold or exposed for sale in contravention of sub-section (1).
