Appointment and Functions of Joint Mamlatdar.— (1) Government, may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint in any taluka a Joint Mamlatdar under this Act who shall be invested with co-extensive powers and a concurrent jurisdiction with the Mamlatdar, except that he shall dispose of such suits or proceedings only as he may receive from the Mamlatdar, or may be transferred to him by the Collector or by Government. (2) The Mamlatdar may transfer to a Joint Mamlatdar any suit or proceeding under this Act which has been instituted in his court and re-transfer to his own file any such suit or proceeding: ----2---- Provided however that no suit or proceeding shall be transferred or re-transferred after any evidence has been recorded therein.
