Powers and duties of Police in respect of offences and assistance to the Competent Authority.— Every Police Officer not below the rank of Police Sub inspector shall give immediate information to the Competent Authority of an offence to his knowledge which has been committed and has to be dealt with under this Act or any rule made thereunder and shall assist the Competent Authority in the exercise of his lawful authority.
