Penalty for default in registration.— (1) Any person erecting, constructing or placing a hoarding without registration shall be punishable with penalty as may be prescribed. (2) Any person using a hoarding for display without registration shall be punishable with penalty as may be prescribed. (3) Where the person on whom the penalty is imposed under sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) or both does not within thirty days from the date of the order imposing such penalty, pay the penalty imposed, then such person shall be liable to pay, by way of penal interest, a sum of :— (a) Rs. 1000/- for each day for the first thirty days from the date of the expiry of the period of thirty days; and, (b) Rs. 2000/- for each day thereafter. (4) where the person or an Agency on whom the penalty is imposed under sub-section (1) or sub section (2) or both and/or penal interest under sub-section (3), the same shall be recovered as arrears of land revenue, and the hoarding shall be removed at the cost of the defaulter.
