Penalty for false statement.— If any person required to make a statement under this Act or the rules made thereunder wilfully makes a false statement or suppresses a material fact with an intention to mislead the prescribed authority, he shall be punishable by the prescribed authority with fine which may extend to Rs. 2,000/-.
