Preservation of order

Preservation of order.— (1) The Presiding authority shall preserve order and may direct any Councillor whose conduct is in his opinion disorderly to withdraw immediately from the meeting of the Corporation; and any Councillor so ordered to withdraw shall do so forthwith and shall absent himself during the reminder of the day’s meeting; and if he is ordered a second time within fifteen days to withdraw, the presiding authority may suspend him for any period not exceeding fifteen days and he shall absent himself from meeting accordingly: Provided that the presiding authority may remit the suspension on receiving apology to his satisfaction from the Councillor under suspension. Provided also that suspension shall not prevent any Councillor from serving on any committee. (2) The presiding authority may, in case of grave disorder arising in the meeting, suspend the meeting for a period not exceeding three days. (3) If any person who has been ordered to withdraw, unlawfully remains in the meeting, the presiding officer may take such steps as he may deem fit to cause him to be removed.
