Disposal of dead animals.— (1) Whenever any animal in the charge of any person dies otherwise than by slaughter for sale or for a religious purpose, such person shall within twenty-four hours either— (a) convey the carcass to the place fixed by the Corporation for the disposal of dead animals. (b) give notice of the death to the Commissioner who shall cause the carcass to be disposed of. (2) For the disposal of dead animals under clause (b) of sub-section (1), the Commissioner may charge such fees as the Corporation may fix by public notice. (3) For the purposes of this section the word “animal” shall include homed cattle, elephants, camels, horses, ponies, asses, mules, deer, sheep, goats and swine. 27 (4) Any person bound to act in accordance with sub-section (1) of this section shall, if he fails so to act, be punished with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees.
