Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Goa, 4 [ ] Buildings (Lease, Rent and Eviction) Control Act, 1968. (2) It extends, in the first instance, to the cities of Panaji, Margao, Mapusa and Vasco (including the Harbour area) 5[but the Government] may, from time to time, by notification in the Official Gazette extend this Act or any provision thereof to any other area in the said 6[State of Goa ]. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the 7[Government] may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint: Provided that different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act and for different areas and any reference in any such provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that provision.
