Bare ActsIndian Evidence Act, 1872

Section 52

In civil cases character to prove conduct imputed, irrelevant.--

The Evidence Act 1872 was replaced by the BSA 2023 (in force 2024-07-01); no verified section mapping on file for Section 52 — confirm the corresponding provision (savings: Section 170, BSA 2023).

In civil cases the fact that the character of any person concerned is such as to render probable or improbable any conduct imputed to him is irrelevant, except in so far as such character appears from facts otherwise relevant.
