(1) This Act may be called the Dock Workers (Safety, Health and Welfare) Act, 1986. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) It shall come into force on such date1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. (4) It shall not apply to any ship of war of any nationality. Came into force on 15/04/1987, vide G.S.R. 399 (E), dated 15th April, 1987, published in the Gazette of India, Extra. Pt. II, Sec. 3(i), dated 15th April, 1987.
