(1) The Municipal Health Officer shall be the Chief Registrar of births and deaths for 1 [ 2 [Delhi]] and shall keep in such form as may be prescribed by bye-laws a register of all births and deaths occurring in 1 [ 2 [Delhi]]. (2) The Commissioner shall for the purposes of this Chapter appoint such number of persons to be registrars of births and deaths as he deems necessary and define the respective areas which shall be under the charge of such registrars.
