Compoundingofoffences.-{l)TheDirectoror any person authorized by him by general or special orders in this behalf, may either before or after institution of the :>.'Cl . .i:)G i-r=: r- proceedings compound any offences made punishable under this Act for such amount as the Government may by notification in the Official Gazette, specify in this behalf. (2) Where an offence has been compounded under sub-section (l ), the offender, if in custody, shall be discharged and no further proceedingsshall be taken against him in respectof such offence. .
