Duties and %unction of the Council. - (1) ::;if c ~ 7 . i: :i n iexkpt as otherwise provided in this Regulation, the ' .,..... ? ?.I -munisripal Government of a municjpal area shall vent in the Council. ( 2 ) In addition to the duties imposed upon it by br under this Regulation or any other law for the tine being inforce, unlers the Government otherwise , . directs it shall be the duty of every Council to , . undertake and to-make reasonable provision for the following matters within the limits of the municipal area, and when effective measures cannot otherwiae be made then even outside the said linits, namely :- . . , .~~ ...... -- .. -. , (a) lighting'public streets,places and building; (b) watering public street and places ; (c) cleansing public atreets, places and sewers. and all spaces, not being private property, which are open to the enjoyment of the public, whether such spaces are vested in the Council or not; removing noxious vegetation; and abating all public nuisances ; (d).ertinguishing fires, and protecting life and property when fires occur ; (e) regulating of abating offensive or dangerous trades or practices ; (f) removing obstructions and projections in publia streets or places and in spaces, not being private property, which are opan to the enjoyment of the public, whether such spaces are vested in the Council or in Government r . . . . tg) \securing or moving dangerous buildings or places, and reclaiming unhealthy localities ; (h) acquiring and laaintaing changing and regulating places for the disposal of the dead ; (i) cohatructing,altering and maintaining public ptreeta, culverts, municipal boundary marks, 'markets, slaughter-houses, latrines, privies, urinals, drains, sewer., drainage-work., sewerage works, baths; washing places, drinking fountains, tanks, well., dams and the like 3 (j) obtaining a supply or an additional supply of water,proper & sufficient for preventing danger to the health of the inhabitants from the insufficiency or unwhalesomenesn of the existing supply, when such supply or additional supply can be obtained at a reasonable cost ; --...
